Since I am going to be at my Mom’s for a few days, Snoopy will be going to my friends house for a sleepover. I sent an email with all of his “pilling” instructions, and have pre-made liverwurst balls in a Tupperware all ready for them! I’m sure it won’t be a problem, Snoopy loves going over there running around and taking over the house! I actually made the mistake of saying it out loud last night (”Snoopy go to J&P’s?”) …..do not think for a minute that he did not know what I was saying! His ears perked up, he cocked his head to one side and got that precious wrinkled forehead …and then he started jumping around like we were leaving right that minute! Ooops..mental note: do not say that out loud!

I see by my site stats that someone found their way here by searching for “Liverwurst”…he he..I found that amusing! That’s one of the things I love about my own domain, being able to see how people got here.

15 year old niece is going with me this weekend to Mom’s, she hasn’t seen her in a while and thought it would be fun to go over just the 2 of us. Maybe we will have another marathon Monopoly game!Or, maybe take her to a movie, she likes the scary stuff..so possibly the new Halloween!

I am so ready for the long weekend!

I just got the call from Sister, the oncologist has reported that there were NO cancer cells in the fluid they drained from Mom’s stomach! This is good news..and we don’t get many reports like that so we shall embrace it!

I am going over on Friday to take her to the Radiation doctor (and spend the weekend) , as they are going to start her treatment back up again on Monday, both chemo & radiation.

My precious boy let me sleep ALL night last night! No midnight wake ups to go potty! Maybe those PPA pills are working…? I’m not so sure, they are supposed to last 12 hours…..but there have only been 2 nights when he made it through without waking up to go outside.

Spoke to Sister this afternoon and everything went well with Mom’s outpatient procedure to drain her stomach, they took out a liter if fluid! She was eating a late lunch and resting nicely when I called.

 There is an appt with the oncologist Wednesday morning to get the biopsy results and any other information.

Happy to report that I got 2 training walks in this weekend, despite the heat & humidity! I walked 4 miles Friday evening after work - up to Publix to get Snoopy’s liverwurst & back! Saturday morning I got up early and put in 7 miles. My new shoes seem to be fitting nicely, and if I keep this pace up over the next few weeks, I’ll have them broken in before I go to Philly. I’m still bringing my old ones with me, as back up in case of rain or unseen circumstances….but the new ones are feeling good. I got New Balance again, they worked out real well for me last year, so why switch? They did not have the same model I already own, so I got the Women’s Walker 557.  I went a size too large again, and I went with the wide width this time….gives your feet breathing room when they swell up from walking so many miles!

I can’t believe it’s only FIVE weeks until I head up to Philadelphia to walk 60 miles in the Susan G Komen 3 Day! That FLEW by!! I bought my plane ticket this week, flying into Atlantic City, spend the night at Cousin’s house, and then we head out to opening ceremonies EARLY Friday morning!

Training has not been at the top of my agenda with everything else that is going on in my life, but I have been getting some walks in here and there. Actually going to head out early this weekend on both days and get some miles in.

I have registered to participate in Blog Action Day, which is Oct 15th. The topic is environment, and if you have been reading either of my blogs you know that I am practically a tree hugging hippy…I even rip the little plastic window out of envelopes so I can recycle them!  

All you have to do is go over to their site and register, and then on Oct 15th you do a post about the environment. They even give you some ideas on what to write about to keep it relevant to your blog!

I heard from big Sister last night and she spoke with the oncologist. It was not good news, why do I even try to think positive?

The cancer has spread, there is a new tumor near her kidney.

It is his belief that when they to the tap Monday to drain the fluid in her stomach, that it will come back malignant….but we have no confirmation on that yet. They are not going to continue radiation, and we will meet with him again next week after they do the drain to see what our next move is.

So, I have been running around to various pharmacies buying up their Sodium Bicarb Pills. It seems there is a backlog at the warehouse or some such nonsense..all the pharmacies I called could not order them, and would not sell me the open bottles they had on hand because, well…they were open! So, knowing Snoopy is going to have to take TWELVE of these pills a day, for the REST of his life…..I had to do something! Upon further investigation, they would sell me the partial bottles with our Doctors approval. So, I called the vet, had him call the pharmacy…and WALA! We have pills! Lots of pills! Well, we have 1314 pills for now….we’ll need more.

The girl at Wal Mart pharmacy asked me how many I wanted to buy. I asked her “how many do you have”….she said “857″.

I’ll buy them all!

She kind of looked at me…and told me they expire July 2008….yes, that’s fine we have to take TWELVE a day…we’ll have no problem getting rid of them before they expire!  

So she says, OK, what’s the patient’s name?

Snoopy.

Excuse me?

Snoopy.

Gives me a funny look, probably thinking “who the heck names their kid Snoopy“?

Then I have to explain they are for my dog…..and you know….people look at you kind of funny when you are at an actual pharmacy buying pills for your dog.

Whatever. We have our pills and that’s all that matters.
